SERKET Racing Joins Military Appreciation Effort at Mazda Raceway
May 1st, 2014
WELLINGTON, Fla. (May 1, 2014) – Looking to improve on a solid season opener at Sebring, SERKET Racing will take its MultiCam-wrapped car to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the sunny skies of California for the next two rounds of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama on May 2-4.
This will be driver Mark Llano’s second season racing the No. 24 911 GT3 Cup car at the 11-turn, 2.238-mile track. That circuit knowledge gives Llano more confidence entering the weekend.
“We can’t wait to come back and compete at Mazda Raceway,” Llano said. “We’re really looking forward to spending time with some of our veterans and their families at the event on Saturday; it should be a great weekend for everyone!”
In line with SERKET Racing’s mission to help raise awareness and provide support for our veterans, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will host a military appreciation day on Saturday, May 3.
Current military and veterans will be offered free admission to the track when they present their military IDs at the gate and are also asked to be in uniform. Daily events include autograph sessions, hot pit tours and hospitality access with the SERKET Racing team. Upon entrance, guests will receive ear protection provided by SERKET Racing, courtesy of sponsor SureFire.
“We ask our veterans and their families to sacrifice so much to defend our freedoms, and this is just our small way of saying thank you,” Llano said.
SERKET Racing also will be involved in a silent auction to benefit the Monterey Bay Veterans and VET Motorsports.
The auction will feature a signed No. 24 SERKET Racing race car door, a SERKET Racing U.S. flag edition longboard from KOTA Longboards, signed SERKET Racing collectable MOMO racing gloves and artwork from Alexander Mijares’ “Make Art Not War” series, courtesy of Eduardo and Henrique Cisneros of MOMO Motorsports. All proceeds will go to the two selected organizations.
Monterey Bay Veterans Inc. (MBV) is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization, which exists to honor and support those who have served and sacrificed for our nation. VET Motorsports honors and empowers disabled combat veterans through active participation in motorsports.
The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama qualifies at 9 a.m. (PT) Saturday, May 3, with two 45-minute races Sunday, May 4. Race One starts at 9 a.m., with Race Two at 5:15 p.m.
