Stand Down House and Special Operation Wounded Warrior beneficiaries celebrate a year of giving

January 18th, 2015 (PALM BEACH, FL) – SERKET Racing, a team that competes in the GT3 Porsche Cup Challenge with the goal of raising awareness for military veterans and their families, enjoyed a day with eight veterans from the Stand Down House Charity and Special Operations Wounded Warriors (SOWW) Charity on January 15th at Palm Beach International Raceway. The hosted veterans were overjoyed with the opportunity to take rides around the racetrack in the SERKET racing Porsche GT3 Cup 911 car.

SERKET hosted Stand Down House Charity, which supports homeless and at-risk veterans, and SOWW, which provides outdoor experiences to service members of the U.S. Special Operations Forces who have sustained wounds in battle.  At Stand Down House Charity, donations have been used to provide over 13,000 sheltered nights for homeless veterans and their families. SOWW donations fund hunting, camping, and other outdoor activities, including the annual “Takin Bacon” hunting trip, focused on building camaraderie within the veteran community. “One-on-one events like this are truly invaluable for us to adequately celebrate the dedication and sacrifices of our veterans,” said Joel Pelicci from SOWW.

New SERKET season sponsor Kaplan University was also on hand to pay tribute at the raceway event. Kaplan is giving away 900 scholarships in conjunction with SERKET Racing, with each award covering more than half the costs of an undergraduate degree.  Said SERKET Owner Mark Llano, “Kaplan Univeristy, SOWW, and Stand Down House are incredible partners in the fight to support our service members. While we’re always looking to raise more money and do more for veterans, events like this are also an important touch-point to bring awareness to our veterans and the hurdles they face all too often.”

SERKET will be racing in this year’s GT3 Cup Challenge, including races at Sebring International Raceway (March 18-21), NOLA Motorsports Park (April 10-12) and Mazda Raceway Laguna Sec (Oct. 9-11). Serket will continue hosting events around the country to continue to raise awareness for veterans. For more information on SERKET Racing and its mission visit
